About the Author:
Lauren Francis-Sharma, a child of Trinidadian immigrants, has written about the Caribbean in both of her critically-acclaimed novels, “’Til the Well Runs Dry” and “Book of the Little Axe.”
Lauren holds a degree in English Literature with a minor in African-American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and an MFA from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. Lauren, a book reviewer for the San Francisco Chronicle and a MacDowell Fellow, is also the Assistant Director of Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference at Middlebury College.

About the Moderator:
Victoria Brown is an Associate Professor of English at Rollins College where she teaches creative writing and Caribbean literature. Her nonfiction articles and essays have been widely published, including in the New York Times, The Guardian, New York Magazine, and Harpers. Her professional writing and short fiction have appeared in numerous academic and literary journals. She is author of the novel Minding Ben, published in hardcover and paperback by Hyperion. She was recently awarded the Rollins College Hugh and Jeanette McKean Grant which allowed her to travel and conduct extensive research in the Caribbean for her as yet untitled forthcoming new novel.

The Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The Library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. The Technology and Education Center is located on the second floor and includes the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
