Celebrate Arab American Heritage Month with a small embroidery hoop of Tatreez flower motifs. Tatreez is traditional Palestinian embroidery that uses geometric patterns full of nature motifs.

  • Class Duration: 1 hour
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Embroidery Level 1 or Cross Stitch
  • Required Skills: Ability to cut with scissors
  • Materials Fee: None 

Suggested Materials: Students should have the following materials to complete the project*:

  • Hand Embroidery Hoop at least 3 inches wide
  • Size 10 Tapestry Needle
  • 10x10 inch (25 cm) to 12x12 inch (30 cm) light colored 16-Count Aida Fabric
  • Cotton Embroidery Floss 
  • Scissors

*If you do not have the suggested materials, please use any materials you have on hand. At the start of class, please inform the instructor if you are using materials other than those suggested.

About the branch

The Washington Park Branch serves the Carver Shores and Metrowest areas, along with the many other subdivisions and local businesses surrounding it. The Washington Park branch has a history that dates back to 1924. It is a combination of the former Booker T. Washington and Washington Shores Libraries. The two branches combined as one and opened in this current location on April 11, 1984. Although small, the glass walls on the front and back of the building create a bright, airy and comfortable atmosphere.
