Fiber Arts Junior: Macramé Keychain

Technology ClassroomLearn the foundation knots needed in macramé projects while creating your very own keychain! Recommended for ages 6-12. Registration required.
Students will:
- Define macramé
- Learn what you can create with macramé
- Use macramé to create a keychain
Required Skills:
- Fine motor control for actions such as writing and handling yarn or fabric
- Hand-eye coordination for actions such as stitching or weaving
- Basic cutting and threading skills
*For their safety, children 10 and under must have a caregiver in the Library. You’re welcome to join your child in class if space allows or wait just outside where you can see the classroom door.
Materials will be provided from a limited selection.
Optional: Students can choose to bring their own cord for color preference, like Loops & Threads cord. It should be cord, not yarn, and the cord should easily unravel at the ends for fringe.

Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
