LEGO® Education Spike™ Prime: Brick Beach Cleanup

Winter Garden Branch
Winter Garden - Technology LabBuild, program, and iterate on various Robotic Grabber designs with LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime and clean the beach! Recommended for ages 6-12. Registration required.
Students will:
- Follow instructions to build and program a robotic grabber
- Program the components
- Test the strength of the grabber and designs
Required Skills: 1st-grade reading and writing level, keyboard and mouse proficiency
*For the safety and comfort of children, a responsible adult or caregiver must accompany children 10 years of age or younger while they are using the Library. If there is available space, you are welcome to join your child in class. If not, or you would rather not join class, you must wait within view of classroom door.

Built in 2005, Winter Garden branch sits at the westernmost part of Orange County. This was the last branch opened before the Great Recession of 2008. Interestingly, this is the only branch in the county built on donated land. Two acres were donated by the family of former citrus grove owner, Sylvester C. Battaglia. S.C. Battaglia’s philosophy, as stated by his son, was to “give back to the community.” The branch’s formal name S.C. Battaglia Memorial Branch, honors his contribution.
Winter Garden Branch has all the charm of a small town library plus all of the resources available through Orange County Library System. Noted for friendly and helpful staff, the branch is now serving a third generation of patrons.
