Technology ClassroomBlast off with this simple felt Rocket Ship design! Once finished, you can submit your project for display in this year's Yarnfiti Community Project.
Yarnfiti is an annual community-created art installation that started in 2017 to bring the fiber arts community together on a collaborative art project. Knitters, crocheters, hand sewists, machine sewists, embroiderers, and macramé artists/community members join forces to craft individual pieces that will be displayed together into a collective masterpiece. Each creation represents the unique contributions of community members and reflects their stories, experiences, and connections. The project fosters collaboration and unity as participants share their skills and ideas. This year's theme is Space.
- Class Duration: 1.5 hours
- Age Requirements: 13-Adult
- Recommended Prerequisite: Embroider Levels 1 & 2
- Required Skills: Ability to hoop fabric, thread a needle, execute simple embroidery stitches.
Suggested Materials: Students can choose to bring the following materials to complete the project:
- Soft craft felt (outer space colors)
- Embroidery Needle
- Cotton Embroidery Floss (match or contrast felt)
- Craft glue (optional)
- Stuffing (Pol-y-Fil or scraps)
- Safety Pins or clips
Note: Fabric and materials are provided from a limited selection.
Southwest Branch
Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
