Ready for your first sewing project or just want to make a unique potholder for your kitchen? Learn to make a simple and easy potholder with fabric and batting.

Required Materials:

  • 1 –  Fat quarter of 100% cotton fabric
  • Batting
    Note: You will need several layers if you are making these to protect from heat.
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and mat
  • Fabric marker that won’t show through your fabric
  • 100% cotton thread
  • Ruler or 10” x 10” template.
  • Optional but helpful is a walking foot for your sewing machine.

WARNING: You can use other types of fabric for making a potholder for practice but they are not heat resistant and may melt.

This is a Virtual Event hosted through Zoom. You will receive an email with a link to access the Zoom before the event from your event host.
A computer with access to the internet and speakers or headsets are required. A webcam and microphone are suggested to fully participate.

  • Required Skills: Students must be able to wind a bobbin, thread a sewing machine, change stitch selections, read patterns and cut fabric.
