Fiber Arts Studio - Second FloorDo you have a drawer full of fabric scraps? Create a variety of useful projects for your bag while learning how to piece fabric scraps together and add decorative quilting stitches.
- Class Duration: 2 hours
- Age Requirements: Ages 13–Adult with a completed Sewing Lab Waiver. Ages 13-17 must have a parent or guardian present to complete the Sewing Lab Waiver.
- Recommended Prerequisite: Sewing - Introduction to the Sewing Machine
- Required Skills: Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet.
- Materials Fee: None
- Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)
Materials: Students may bring the following materials to complete the project:
- Recommended Fabric: 100% cotton, Quilting Cotton or Fleece
- Outer Fabric - A scrap of fabric measuring approximately 10" x 12" or 1 fat quarter
- Interior Fabric - A scrap of fabric measuring approximately 10" x 12" or 1 fat quarter
- Cotton Batting, Flannel, Flex Foam, or Pellon 987F Fusible Fleece 1/4 yd

| Beginner | Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance. |
| Intermediate | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |
| Advanced | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |

The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
