Melrose Classroom - Second FloorJoin this 8-part class series and learn how to model, texture, rig, and animate a character for a video game.
This class series is designed to teach the entire workflow of creating a character for a video game from scratch. It is broken down into four skills. Parts 1 and 2: Fundamentals and Modeling. Parts 3 and 4: Texturing. Parts 5 - 7: Rigging. Part 8 is Animating. You can register and attend the entire series or pick and choose the skills that interest you most.
Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced
Class Duration: 1.5 hours per class
Age Requirements: 13 - Adult
Recommended Prerequisite: None
Materials Fee: None
Out-of-District Fee: $10 per class/free 10 minutes after the start of the class if seats are available.

Part 1 - Blender Fundamentals - Saturday, September 5, 4-5:30 p.m.
Create a Robotic Hand and learn to navigate Blender's workspace, manipulate 3D objects, and the 3D content creation pipeline.
Part 2 - Blender: Character Modeling Fundamentals - Saturday, September 12, 4-5:30 p.m.
Create the base of a stylized 3D character and learn some of the most commonly used tools, techniques, and concepts involved with polygonal modeling in Blender.
Part 3 - Blender: Texturing Fundamentals - Sunday, September 13, 4-5:30 p.m.
Texture a six-sided die and learn the most commonly used tools, techniques, and concepts related to texturing in Blender.
Part 4 - Blender: UV Mapping a Character - Saturday, September 19, 4-5:30 p.m.
Create the UV Map of a 3D character and learn the most common tools and techniques involved with UV Mapping in Blender.
Part 5 - Blender: Rigging Fundamentals - Sunday, September 20, 4-5:30 p.m.
Create a Rig for a Character's arm and learn the most commonly used tools, techniques, and concepts related to Rigging in Blender.
Part 6 - Blender: Create an FK-IK Control System - Saturday, September 26, 4-5:30 p.m.
Create an animator control system for a 3D Character's arm with a forward and inverse kinematic switcher.
Part 7 - Blender: Rigging with Rigify - Sunday, September 27, 4-5:30 p.m.
Create an Animator Control System for a 3D Character using Blender's Rigify Addon and learn the common workflow and how to overcome setup pitfalls.
Part 8 - Blender: Game Character Animation Basics - Saturday, October 3, 4-5:30 p.m.
Animate a character's walk cycle and learn the basic tools and techniques for creating animation sequences for video game characters.
