Relax in style with this easy-to-assemble eye mask. Please read full description for recommended materials. Recommended for Adults.

  • Class Duration: 2 hours
  • Age Requirements: Ages 13–Adult with a completed Sewing Lab Waiver. Ages 13-17 must have a parent or guardian present to complete the Sewing Lab Waiver.
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to the Sewing Machine
  • Required Skills: Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance.

Materials: Students are strongly encouraged to bring the following materials to complete the project:

  • Fabric: 2 Fat Quarters or 1/8 yard each of front fabric and back fabric - recommended at least one side Satin fabric, like White Costume Satin
  • Interfacing: 1/8 yard of light to midweight interfacing like HeatnBond or Pellon
  • Elastic: 1/8 yard elastic at 1/2 inch to 1 inch width, like Loops & Threads Braided Elastic
  • Thread to match or contrast

Note: Fabric is provided for your first class from a limited selection - cotton only. Students are encouraged to bring their own fabric for personal preference. The library also has a limited selection of elastic and interfacing.

Level Description
Beginner Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance.
Confident Beginner Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects.
Intermediate Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet.
Advanced Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet.

About the branch

Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
