Turn a small piece of fabric into a fashionable accessory! In this beginner-friendly class.

Bad hair day? We've got you covered! Learn how to sew your own stylish hair scrunchies in this fun beginner-friendly class. You'll learn basic sewing techniques, how to create a casing, insert elastic, and leave with several custom scrunchies to wear, gift, or coordinate with your favorite outfits. Warning: Once you make one, you'll want to make them in every color!

Class Duration: 2 hours
Age Requirements: Adult
Recommended Prerequisite: Sewing - Introduction to the Sewing Machine
Required Skills: Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects.

Materials Fee: None
Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)

¼ inch thin elastic


Note: Sewing skills are necessary to be successful in this class. 

New to sewing? Attend Introduction to the Sewing Machine prior to attending this class.

Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in Orlando Public Library include Children’s, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children’s Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity is located on the second floor. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
