Sewing - Sketch or Notebook Cover (3-Parts)

Fiber Arts Studio - Second FloorGive an ordinary notebook a custom-made makeover! In this fun sewing class, you'll learn how to create a fabric notebook cover that is both practical and uniquely yours.
- Class Duration: 2 Hours each Session, 4 Parts
- Age Requirements: Ages 13–Adult with a completed Sewing Lab Waiver. Ages 13-17 must have a parent or guardian present to complete the Sewing Lab Waiver.
- Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to the Sewing Machine
- Required Skills: Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects.
- Materials Fee: None
- Out of District Fee: $40
Students Must Bring:
- Pellon 987F Fusible fleece 1/2 yard
- One composition book
Materials: Students should bring the following materials if you desire a themed book cover otherwise fabric is provided the first time you attend this class.
- 2-1/2 inch squares for cover 54 in total
- Lining fabric 1/2 yard
- Flap fabric 1/2 yard
- Fusible Interfacing 1/2 yard
- Ribbon One 14” length
- Sketchbook or composition book

| Advance | Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance. |
| Confident Beginner | Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects. |
| Intermediate | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |
| Advanced | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |

Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in Orlando Public Library include Children’s, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children’s Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity is located on the second floor. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
