Slip Stitch coasters are a quick way to use up scrap yarn and practice basic crochet skills.

Prerequisite: Basic crochet skills are required to be successful in class.

  • Class Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes on Tuesday, May 5 and 19
  • Age Requirements: 18+
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Crochet Levels 1 & 2
  • Required Skills: Chain, single crochet, double crochet
  • Materials Fee: None

Required Materials:

  • 50yds Bulky Yarn (Size 5) cotton or cotton blend yarn similar to Bernat's Home Maker or this beginner yarn .
  • 1 Crochet hook size 7mm (feel free to substitute with size 6.5mm (size K) as gauge is no important for this project.
  • 1 Crochet hook size 5.5mm(Size I) (optional)
  • Stitch markers and scissors

Level Description
Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
Confident Beginner Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.
Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.

Recommended Audience: Adults.

About the branch

Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
