Fiber Arts Studio - Second Floor

You will trot head over hills with this adorable horse quilt! Your finished project will make a unique gift for your little one. Students are required to bring fabric and batting.

    In this 2-day course students will learn how to match a variety of pattern pieces and sew along curves. Be sure to check for supplies; cotton fabric, broadcloths, flannel or Minky fabrics work best. The Horse Quilt is approximately 60 inches tall. 
  • Class Duration: 2 days from 10:30pm to 5pm; we break for 1-hour lunch and two 15minute breaks. 
  • Age Requirements: Teens 15+, Adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Sewing: Introduction to the Sewing Machine
  • Required Skills: Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet.

Level Description
Beginner Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance.
Confident Beginner Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects.
Intermediate Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet.
Advanced Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet.

The Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The Library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in the Orlando Public Library include Children's, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children's Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Technology and Education Center is located on the second floor and includes the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
