Sewing - Cosmetic Bag (4-Part) (Ages 11-17)

Fiber Arts Studio - Second FloorCarry all your essential on a trip with this fun and easy to make cosmetic case.
This class is a series, held on Monday thru Thursday, June 10-13 at 10:30am-12:30pm.
- Class Duration: 4 parts, 2 hours per part
- Age Requirements: 13-Adult with completed Sewing Lab Waiver, 11-12 with supervising adult and completed Sewing Lab Waiver
- Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to the Sewing Machine and Sewing - Patterns and Fabric
- Required Skills: Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects.
- Materials Fee: None
- Out of District Fee: $20 (includes class and materials fees)

Required Materials: Students may bring the following materials to complete the project:
- Pattern: Easy Cosmetics Bag by So Sew Easy Please Note: Students must bring a printed copy of the pattern printed at 100%.
- Recommended Fabrics: Cotton Blends, Cotton Shirting, Cotton Lawn, Challis, Polished Cotton. Designed for medium-weight woven fabrics.
- Outer Fabric: ¼ yard woven fabric (45” wide) or Fat Quarter
- Inner Fabric: ¼ yard woven fabric (45” wide) or Fat Quarter
- Optional Interfacing: ¼ yard of fusible lightweight interfacing or fleece with adhesive
- 9" inch Zipper
- Thread
- Bobbin compatible with Singer Sewing Machines

| Beginner | Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance. |
| Confident Beginner | Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects. |
| Intermediate | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |
| Advanced | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |

Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in Orlando Public Library include Children’s, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children’s Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity is located on the second floor. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
