Come and sew at the South Trail Branch and make your own Beach Bag! Or bring your own sewing projects. All the tools are here for you. Machine sewing skills are required.

Come and sew at the South Trail Library! Make a Beach Bag or bring your sewing projects. All the tools are here to create your projects. Participants must bring all of the fabric, patterns, thread and notions (e.g. interfacing, zippers, etc.) needed for their own projects. 

  • Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machines and tools available for you to use.
  • Prerequisites to use a sewing machine:
    • Sewing: Introduction to the Sewing Machine
      OR
    • Participants must be able to wind a bobbin, thread a sewing machine, sew straight seams, read simple patterns and cut fabric with minimal assistance.

      Note: Machine sewing skills are necessary to be successful in Open Lab. New to sewing? Check out Introduction to the Sewing Machine.

Age requirements: Adults; for anyone from age 15-17, guardian must sign waiver and accompany the child.

South Trail Branch is located in the Orange Blossom Center, a shopping center next to numerous multi-family housing units. It is a welcoming and colorful library full of sunshine and a popular spot for children and families.

South Trail Branch began in 1965 as the Fort Gatlin Branch at 105 Gatlin Avenue and moved to the corner of Holden Avenue and South Orange Blossom Trail in 1981. The move across the street to the current site in the Orange Blossom Center took place in 1996.
