Begin your journey to chess mastery. Learn the rules of the game and use the free website, lichess.org to play chess at any time. Recommended for ages 6-12. Registration required.

Students will: 

  • Learn how the chess pieces move 
  • Learn the rules of chess 
  • Practice chess skills with lichess.org 

Required Skills: 1st Grade Reading and Writing Level, Keyboard and Mouse Proficiency.  
 
* For children’s safety and comfort, a responsible adult/caregiver must accompany children age 10 and under while using the library. Caregivers may join the class if space allows; otherwise, they must wait within view of the classroom door.

South Trail Branch is located in the Orange Blossom Center, a shopping center next to numerous multi-family housing units. It is a welcoming and colorful library full of sunshine and a popular spot for children and families.

South Trail Branch began in 1965 as the Fort Gatlin Branch at 105 Gatlin Avenue and moved to the corner of Holden Avenue and South Orange Blossom Trail in 1981. The move across the street to the current site in the Orange Blossom Center took place in 1996.
