Fiber Arts Junior: Loom Bracelets

West Oaks - Technology ClassroomCreate colorful bracelets with cardboard looms and yarn. Learn how to measure and make your bracelet using Kumihimo weaving techniques. Recommended for ages 6-12. Registration required.
Students will:
- Measure yarn for bracelets
- Create a cardboard loom
- Use a cardboard loom to make a bracelet
Required Skills:
- Fine motor control for actions such as writing and handling yarn or fabric
- Hand-eye coordination for actions such as stitching or weaving
- Basic cutting and threading skills
*For their safety, children 10 and under must have a caregiver in the Library. You’re welcome to join your child in class if space allows, or wait just outside where you can see the classroom door.

West Oaks Branch and Genealogy Center is located in the historic city of Ocoee near the intersection of Silver Star and Clark Roads. The branch opened in August 2001 and was designed by Harvard, Jolly, Clees, Toppe Architecture Firm. West Oaks Branch provides exceptional library services to the nearly 50,000 residents of Ocoee and surrounding areas. In January 2015, the branch became the new Genealogy Center for Orange County, housing a collection of over 30,000 genealogy books. The Library is the official repository of the Florida State Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The construction of West Oaks Branch and Genealogy Center was funded by the Library System and a Florida Library Construction Grant.
