Plan ahead with thoughtful handmade gifts - Mother's Day or just because - create a dishcloth / trivet set, perfect for gift-giving while mastering fun & practical knitting in color techniques.

This class is a series, held on Mondays, March 23, April 6, 13, & 27 at 10:15 a.m.

Intermediate knitting skills necessary to be successful in this class. New to Knitting? Check out Knit Level 1.

We'll practice color stranding and color mosaic techniques while create a wonderfully bright dishcloth & trivet set.  The trivet is knitted in the round, creating a very thick fabric ideal for heat insulation, and dishcloths are worked in a textured Slip Stitch Pattern.  Techniques include: knitting in the round, 3-Needle Bind Off, an applied I-Cord Edge, as well as stranding and mosaic colorwork.

Beginning March 23rd, we'll go step-by-step to begin the trivet, practicing stranding techniques. Class will then break for 1-week (no class on March 30th), and we'll work on finishing the trivet during our next class (April 6th).

We'll switch to mosaic colorwork for the dishcloth on April 13th, completing our project on April 27th.

    About the branch

Built in 2005, Winter Garden branch sits at the westernmost part of Orange County. This was the last branch opened before the Great Recession of 2008. Interestingly, this is the only branch in the county built on donated land. Two acres were donated by the family of former citrus grove owner, Sylvester C. Battaglia. S.C. Battaglia’s philosophy, as stated by his son, was to “give back to the community.” The branch’s formal name S.C. Battaglia Memorial Branch, honors his contribution.

Winter Garden Branch has all the charm of a small town library plus all of the resources available through Orange County Library System. Noted for friendly and helpful staff, the branch is now serving a third generation of patrons.
