Enhance your skills and move beyond the traditional granny square. We'll create a stylish market bag with starburst granny squares. A perfect accessory bag to bring with you to the farmer's markets.
During the first weeks of class (Jan 7th), we'll go step-by-step to make starburst granny squares, learning more advanced stitches, including a puff stitch and a bobble stitch which will create the look of a sunflower. Class will then break for 1-week (no class on Jan 14th) when you can finish up the remainder granny squares (13 for this project). We'll make crochet handles during our next class (Jan 21st) and during the last 2 classes (Jan 28th + Feb 4th) bring it all together to see how to piece your starburst granny squares together to finish the bag!
This class is a series, held on Wednesdays, January 7, 21, 28, and February 4 at 11:30 am. **This bag may be completed by the end of the Third session; A fourth session is included if needed or just to be used as an open lab.**
Materials: Students should bring the following materials to complete the project:

Built in 2005, Winter Garden branch sits at the westernmost part of Orange County. This was the last branch opened before the Great Recession of 2008. Interestingly, this is the only branch in the county built on donated land. Two acres were donated by the family of former citrus grove owner, Sylvester C. Battaglia. S.C. Battaglia’s philosophy, as stated by his son, was to “give back to the community.” The branch’s formal name S.C. Battaglia Memorial Branch, honors his contribution.
Winter Garden Branch has all the charm of a small town library plus all of the resources available through Orange County Library System. Noted for friendly and helpful staff, the branch is now serving a third generation of patrons.
