Fiber Arts Studio - Second Floor

Feeling a creative block? LEGO of all your worries and make this fun yet easy tissue box cover! Students are required to bring materials

This beginner friendly class will demonstrate how to crochet a LEGO brick perfectly sized to fit over a cube tissue box. Students will use basic crochet stitches and learn how to shape crochet into a 3-D form. 

  • Class Duration: 2 hours, 2 Parts
  • Age Requirements: Adults, Teens 13+
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Crochet Level 1, Crochet Level 2
  • Required Skills: Chain, Slip Stitch, Single Crochet,

Required Materials: The following materials are needed to complete the project:

  • 1 7-oz ball of yarn (medium weight #4 recommended) in any color
  • H or I (5 – 5.5 mm) crochet hook recommended or hook size to match selected yarn
  • Yarn/tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Note: Crochet skills are necessary to be successful in this class. New to crochet? Check out Let's Crochet Level 1.

Level Description
Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
Confident Beginner Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.
Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.

Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in Orlando Public Library include Children’s, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children’s Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity is located on the second floor. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
