The gifting series is all about knitting gifts to give or accent gifts. The simple classic French Beret is quick to knit up--perfect for gift giving.

Note: Basic Knitting skills are necessary to be successful in this class. New to knitting? Check out Let's Knit Level 1.

  • Class Duration: This is an  2-part class on Tuesdays, November 12, December 3
  • Age Requirements:18+
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Knit Increases and Decreases
  • Recommended Skills: Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.

Required Materials:

  • Printed pattern
  • 225 yards of dk weight (size 3) yarn similar to Lion Brand Touch of Mohair
  • US 6 (4mm)16" circular needles for the ribbing
  • US 7 (4.5mm) 16" circular needles for the main part of the beret
  • knitting notions: stitch markers and scissors

Level Description
Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
Confident Beginner Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.
Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.

About the branch

Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
