New to sewing and looking to create your own clothes? Learn the basics of garment construction in this three part skirt class!

  • Class Duration: 2 hours, 3 parts
  • Age Requirements: Adult, 18 and up.
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to Sewing
  • Required Skills: Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance.

    • Recommended Fabrics: Cotton broadcloth, Cotton Blends, Cotton Shirting, Cotton Lawn, Challis, Polished Cotton. Designed for medium-weight woven fabrics.
    • To find the amount of fabric you need, you will need to measure your natural waist, and then multiply that number by 2. For example, if I have a 48 inch waist, I will need a 96 inch cut of fabric
    • 1" wide elastic (to find the measurement, measure your natural waist, divide by two, then subtract 1. For example, if I have a 48 inch waist, I will need 23 inches of elastic (48/2 = 24, 24 - 1 = 23)
    • Sewing thread if desired to match your fabric

  • Materials will be provided if needed, but they will be chosen from a random assortment of material, so patterns, colors, and textures cannot be guaranteed.
