Finally Seen - Session 1

Engage in a lively discussion and fun activities with Mayor Buddy's Book Club. There will be a Q&A with the author, Kelly Yang. Recommended for ages 8-12.

This is a Virtual Event hosted through Zoom. You will receive an email with a link to access the Zoom before the event from your event host and directions on how to join.

About the Author

Kelly Yang is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Front Desk series, Finally Heard, Finally Seen, New From Here, and the young adult novels Parachutes and Private Label. Front Desk was awarded the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature and Parents' Choice Gold Medal in 2019, was the 2019 Global Read Aloud selection, and was named a Best Book of the Year by multiple publications, including Kirkus Reviews, the School Library Journal, and more.

Kelly immigrated to America when she was 6 years old and grew up in Southern California, where she and her parents worked in three different motels. She graduated from UC Berkeley at the age of 13 and Harvard Law School at the age of 17. After law school, she gave up law to pursue her passion for writing and teaching. She is the founder of The Kelly Yang Project, a leading writing and debating program for children in Asia. As a writing teacher of 13 years, Kelly has helped thousands of children find their voice and become better writers and more powerful speakers. She lives with her husband, three children, and two dogs in Los Angeles.
