Sewing - Upcycled Tote Bag

Fiber Arts Studio - Second FloorDo you have a t-shirt that you can't wear anymore, but you love? Bring it with you and turn it into an Upcycled Tote Bag. This program is offered in partnership with Keep Orlando Beautiful.
Keep Orlando Beautiful will be helping you take an old shirt or any textile that you can no longer wear or use, and transform it into a tote bag. We want to focus on reducing our waste and reusing items to help keep our community litter free and beautiful. This is a perfect way to take old material and give it a new life! If you are new to sewing the Orange County Library has Introduction to the Sewing Machine classes you can register for prior to our event.
- Class Duration: 2 Hours
- Age Requirements: Teen 13+, Adult
- Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to the Sewing Machine
- Required Skills: Students should be able to use a standard sewing machine to sew straight seams.
- Materials Fee: None! Keep Orlando Beautiful will provide all materials. If you have an old shirt or textiles you want to use please bring them!
- Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)

Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in Orlando Public Library include Children’s, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children’s Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity is located on the second floor. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
