Take the fashion world by storm! We will teach you everything you need to know to sew like a professional. Create a simple and easy tote bag, perfect for shopping or running errands.
Learn how to sew your own bag from start to finish using professional patterns, fabric of your choice, and professional sewing machines in this 2-day class series.
- Class Duration: 2 Parts , 2 hours each part
- Age Requirements: 13-Adult with completed Sewing Lab Waiver, 11-12 with supervising adult and completed Sewing Lab Waiver
- Recommended Prerequisite: Sewing - Introduction to the Sewing Machine
- Required Skills: Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects.
- Materials Fee: None
- Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)
*Students must bring the following materials:
- 1 yard of cotton or *canvas fabric (for the outside of the bag) (*no stabilizer need it)
- 1 Yard of 100% cotton contrast fabric (for the inside of the bag)
- Thread (all purpose)
- Optional: 1 yard of Stabilizer (Pellon Mid weight 40 stabilizer)

| Beginner | Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance. |
| Confident Beginner | Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects. |
| Intermediate | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |
| Advanced | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |

North Orange Branch began as a bookmobile station in 1950, and was replaced by a branch in 1964. Moving to the Palm Plaza Shopping Center in 1969, the branch occupied a 3500 square foot space there for twenty years. In 1989 the branch moved to its present 12,000 square foot facility. As the name implies, North Orange Branch serves the areas of Apopka, Plymouth, Zellwood, Tangerine, and environs.
