Learn the basics of loom knitting in this four part series where students will make their own loom knitted hat! Students are required to supply their own yarn for this project.

    This class series meets on:

    • Monday, June 10th from 11:30am-12:30pm (Day 1)
    • Wednesday, June 12th from 11:30am-12:30pm (Day 2)
    • Thursday, June 13th from 11:30am-12:30pm (Day 3)
    • Friday, June 14th from 11:30am-12:30pm (Day 4)

    Required Materials: Students should have the following materials to complete the project*: 

    • Class Duration: 4 Parts, 1 hour each part
    • Age Requirements: 10-12
    • Required Skills: None
    • Materials Fee: None

    Required Materials: Students will be using a classroom set of looms but should have the following materials to complete the project: 

    • Yarn: 1 skein (or ball) of Super Bulky Yarn (at least 100 yards) in any desired color.
      You can find information on reading yarn labels here: How to Read a Yarn Label

    *If you do not have the suggested materials, please use any materials you have on hand. At the start of class, please inform the instructor if you are using materials other than those suggested.

    About the branch

    LYNX Bus Link 15 Curry Ford Road / Valencia College East

    Chickasaw Branch is the newest addition to Orange County Library System. It is located in east Orange County on North Chickasaw Trail near the corner of Valencia College Lane. The branch is minutes away from several educational institutions (including elementary and middle schools and Valencia College) making it a popular spot for students of all ages. This library boasts several unique features including a pebble chime, modern architectural awnings and two outdoor decks where the community can relax and enjoy our great Florida weather. Opened on July 18, 2015, Chickasaw Branch was funded by a Florida Library Construction Grant.
