Whether you’re a budding audio engineer, a seasoned producer, or simply passionate about the world of sound, these workshops offer a unique opportunity to expand your skills, unleash your creativity, and take your mixes to the next level. Join us for an unforgettable summer of sonic exploration and discovery.

Part 1: Listening and Balancing Participants will refine their critical listening skills, learning to discern subtle nuances and achieve the delicate balance that defines professional-grade mixes.

Part 2: Frequency and Dynamics Learn to control your mix by harnessing the power of Equalizers and Compressors to tame dynamic range, sculpt frequency ranges, and achieve clarity and impact in your mixes.

Part 3: Effects and Interest From lush reverbs to gritty distortions, participants will discover the creative potential of effects processors, virtual amps, and re-amping techniques, learning to infuse their mixes with depth, dimension, and character.

Part 4: Tips and Tricks Culminate your experience by learning the tips and tricks that separate the amateurs from the pros. Dive deep into the intricacies of gain staging, bus mixing, saturation, and uncover the elusive “magic frequencies” that define professional-grade mixes.

After each 1.5-hour session, there will be an Open Lab session held in the Audio Learning Lab. During this extended period, participants can put into practice the concepts and techniques learned in the session by working on their own mix.

Class Duration: 1.5 hours
Age Requirements: 14+.
Recommended Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Sound for Audio Engineering, Pro Tools levels 1 and 2
Required Skills: Basic computer skills
Materials Fee: None, but we recommend bringing headphones with a 1/4" adapter and an external hard drive. (Headphones are available upon request. Participant session files can be emailed from their workstation if they do not have access to an External Hard Drive.)  
Out of District Fee: $40 (includes class and materials fees)
