Sewing - Kitchen Essentials (3-Part)

North Orange - Computer LabSewing is a wonderful skill to have, and there's no better way to show off your talents than by creating beautiful and functional items for your home.
In this class, we'll be focusing on three essential pieces for any kitchen: a table decoration, placemat with utensil pocket, and coasters.
This class is a series, held on Saturday June 1, 15 & 29, 10:30 A.M.
- Class Duration: 2 hours
- Age Requirements: Adult, 18 and up with completed Sewing Lab Waiver,
- Recommended Prerequisite: Sewing - Introduction to the Sewing Machine
- Required Skills: Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance.
- Materials Fee: None
- Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)
Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project:
- Pattern: Provided by the library
- 2 yards cotton Fabric
- 2 yards batting

| Beginner | Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance. |
| Confident Beginner | Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects. |
| Intermediate | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |
| Advanced | Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. |

North Orange Branch began as a bookmobile station in 1950, and was replaced by a branch in 1964. Moving to the Palm Plaza Shopping Center in 1969, the branch occupied a 3500 square foot space there for twenty years. In 1989 the branch moved to its present 12,000 square foot facility. As the name implies, North Orange Branch serves the areas of Apopka, Plymouth, Zellwood, Tangerine, and environs.
