Celebrate Zora’s legacy with Alicia D. Williams, award-winning children’s author of "Jump at the Sun," "Genesis Begins Again," and "The Talk." Recommended for families with children ages 5 and up.
Alicia D. Williams is the award-winning author of Genesis Begins Again, which received the Newbery and Kirkus Prize honors, was a William C. Morris finalist, and won the Coretta Scott King--John Steptoe Award for New Talent. Alicia also debuted a picture book biography, Jump at the Sun: The True Life Tale of Unstoppable Storycatcher Zora Neale Hurston and followed up with Shirley Chisholm Dared: The Story of the First Black Woman in Congress. The Talk, her latest picture book, won both Coretta Scott King and Golden Kite Honors. Alicia shares a passion for writing which stems from conducting artist residencies in schools as a Master Teaching Artist of arts-integration. Alicia infuses her love for drama, movement, comedy, and storytelling to inspire students to write their own narratives.

The Eatonville Library is located in the Town of Eatonville's Zora Neale Hurston Square. Eatonville is known as the oldest incorporated African American municipality in the United States.
The Eatonville Branch is a children's library featuring material and programming for children through the sixth grade. The branch serves the residents that make up the four residential quadrants of Eatonville - Calhoun, Catalina Park, Eaton Pointe, and Lake Lovely Estates. The collection, programs, and services are also available to all Orange County residents including residents of the City of Maitland and Winter Park through reciprocal borrowing.
