Audiences lined up in the summer of 1977 to experience Star Wars: A New Hope. Celebrate 45 years of Star Wars with the Melrose Center with activities, movie screenings and a meet and greet with our newest team member, R2-KN3!
Our Fab Lab instructors will show you how to turn ordinary PVC pipe fittings into a costume worthy lightsaber!
Use PVC pipe and fittings to construct a lightsaber handle in the style of a Jedi or Sith. Class is a hands-on project that attendees will build the pieces step by step. A small demonstration of the Silhouette cutter will be done during the class.
Class is available for ages 15+. You must be at least 15 years of age to attend this class.
No pre-requisite classes required. Project includes the use of basic acrylic paints. No glue or binders will be used.

The Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The Library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in the Orlando Public Library include Children's, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children's Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Technology and Education Center is located on the second floor and includes the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
