    Planning your novel doesn't have to be difficult or complicated! Learn how to build a basic, flexible, customizable roadmap for writing your NaNoWriMo novel and how to develop an outline into a strong story while keeping your creative spark.
  • 2:00 p.m. – Worldbuilding with Valerie Valdes
    Developing your world is one of the keys to understanding your characters and the conflicts they’ll face. Find out what details are essential to consider before you start writing, and learn tips for not getting bogged down while playing god.
  • 3:00 p.m. – Structuring Your Novel with Michael Mammay Understanding structure can provide a framework on which to build your novel. Learn how structure can help you keep the flow and pace of your novel while opening the door for your creativity. A better understanding of structure can help you set the stage for a successful NaNoWriMo.
  • 4:00 p.m. – Finishing Your First Draft with Elle E. Ire & José Pablo Iriarte
    Getting through a first draft is a challenge, no matter how experienced you are. Learn how to keep your motivation engaged, keep writing, and ignore self-criticism. These expert strategies will help keep you focused through NaNoWriMo and your whole first draft.

    How do you go from idea to story? Learn how to mine your idea to discover the character's motivation, obstacles, and secrets to create a story.
  • 2:00 p.m. – Developing Character with Kathleen Barber
    Characters drive the action of the story through their wants and motivations. Learn how to strengthen your main character or figure out who your main character really is. Use your character's growth to create an engaging and satisfying arc that will keep you writing throughout November.
  • 3:00 p.m. – Conflict & Tension with Allen Gorney
    One of the best ways to keep your story moving through the month of November is by creating conflict. Learn how to create conflict when your story is feeling weak or too easy for the characters, how to chase that conflict and keep it interesting for you to write it, and how to resolve the conflict you’ve created.
  • 4:00 p.m. – Writing Around Writer's Block with Premee Mohamed
    One of the great struggles of writing on a deadline is dealing with writer's block. Learn tricks for working around and breaking through writer's block to achieve your goals and finish your novel.
