You've learned the basics, created some great scarves & shawls - now it's time to knit your first sweater. We'll enhance basic skills while learning some new techniques.

Winter Garden - Technology LabYou've learned the basics, created some great scarves & shawls - now it's time to knit your first sweater. We'll enhance basic skills while learning some new techniques.
This class is a series, held on Mondays, Sept 14, 21, 28, Oct 5 & Oct 12 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
We'll learn to knit a cardigan sweater from the top down with raglan shaping. No seaming required! Skills we will learn are: ▪ choosing a sweater size ▪ increasing evenly spaced ▪ keeping in pattern ▪ basic top down sweater construction ▪ short rows
Prerequisite: Knitting skills are necessary to be successful in this class, including cast-on, knit, purl, knit in the round, and bind-off.
New to knitting? Check out Knit Level 1.

Class Duration: 5 parts, 2 hours per part

Pattern: The Harvest Sweater by Tin Can Knits, available in the app or in PDF format.
This sweater comes in many sizes and in 3 different weights of yarn, worsted, dk and sock. Please see needle size & yarn requirements that is appropriate for the chosen size and yarn weight - The Tin Can Knits website or Tin Can Knits App can be used to keep track of sizing, yarn needed and our progress throughout.

Built in 2005, Winter Garden branch sits at the westernmost part of Orange County. This was the last branch opened before the Great Recession of 2008. Interestingly, this is the only branch in the county built on donated land. Two acres were donated by the family of former citrus grove owner, Sylvester C. Battaglia. S.C. Battaglia’s philosophy, as stated by his son, was to “give back to the community.” The branch’s formal name S.C. Battaglia Memorial Branch, honors his contribution.
Winter Garden Branch has all the charm of a small town library plus all of the resources available through Orange County Library System. Noted for friendly and helpful staff, the branch is now serving a third generation of patrons.
