South Trail - Computer Lab

Create colorful bracelets with cardboard looms and yarn. Learn how to measure and make your bracelet using Kumihimo weaving techniques. Recommended for ages 6-12. Registration required.

Students will:  

  • Measure yarn for bracelets
  • Create a cardboard loom
  • Use a cardboard loom to make a bracelet

Required Skills:  

  • Fine motor control for actions such as writing and handling yarn or fabric 
  • Hand-eye coordination for actions such as stitching or weaving 
  • Basic cutting and threading skills 

* For children’s safety and comfort, a responsible adult/caregiver must accompany children age 10 and under while using the library. Caregivers may join the class if space allows; otherwise, they must wait within view of the classroom door.

South Trail Branch is located in the Orange Blossom Center, a shopping center next to numerous multi-family housing units. It is a welcoming and colorful library full of sunshine and a popular spot for children and families.

South Trail Branch began in 1965 as the Fort Gatlin Branch at 105 Gatlin Avenue and moved to the corner of Holden Avenue and South Orange Blossom Trail in 1981. The move across the street to the current site in the Orange Blossom Center took place in 1996.
