Winter Garden - Technology LabExpand your knitting toolkit! In this 4-week class, advanced beginners master slip-stitch mosaic colorwork, reinforced buttonholes, and seaming to knit and assemble a stylish bag.
Designed for knitters who know the basics but want to learn colorwork and assembly, We'll dive into colorwork with mosaic knitting, an easy-to-learn technique that creates stunning, intricate geometric patterns using just one yarn strand at a time. No tricky strands required!
Class Duration: This is an 4-part class on Thursdays, September 3, 10, 17 & 24 from 3:00pm-5:00pm.
Age Requirements: Adult
Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Knit Increases and Decreases
Recommended Skills: Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Note: This class requires a good grasp of foundational knitting skills. New to knitting? Check out Knit Level 1.
Required Materials:

Pattern: A printed or digital copy of the Mosaic Shoulder Bag by Amy Polcyn.
Please Note: Students must bring a printed copy of the pattern or be able to access it on a mobile device. - Yarn: Main Color (MC): 1 skein of a solid Aran/worsted weight yarn (approx. 100-150 yards). Light or bright colors work best to show off the pattern. Contrasting Color (CC): 1 skein of a variegated or self-striping Aran/worsted weight yarn (approx. 100-150 yards) to create the mosaic effect.
- Needles: Size 8 US (5.0 mm) needles.

Built in 2005, Winter Garden branch sits at the westernmost part of Orange County. This was the last branch opened before the Great Recession of 2008. Interestingly, this is the only branch in the county built on donated land. Two acres were donated by the family of former citrus grove owner, Sylvester C. Battaglia. S.C. Battaglia’s philosophy, as stated by his son, was to “give back to the community.” The branch’s formal name S.C. Battaglia Memorial Branch, honors his contribution.
Winter Garden Branch has all the charm of a small town library plus all of the resources available through Orange County Library System. Noted for friendly and helpful staff, the branch is now serving a third generation of patrons.
