This series guides you through creating a textured project bag. On Day 1, you will master building a sturdy, flat rectangular base and transition smoothly into working in the round. On Day 2, you will unlock the secrets to the gorgeous, fan-shaped shell stitch, watching your bag walls grow tall. Finally, on Day 3, we will add durable, non-stretch shoulder straps and a secure loop-and-button closure to keep your supplies safe on the go.
Note: This series is designed specifically for advanced beginners who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
New to Crochet? Check out Crochet Level 1.
Required Materials:
- Pattern: To be Provided
- Yarn: Roughly 250 yards of Worsted weight cotton yarn
- Hook: Sizes appropriate for your yarn choice (typically US H/5.0mm to I/5.5mm).
Class Duration: 3 parts, 2 hours per part
Age Requirements: Adults
Recommended Prerequisite/Skills: Crochet in the Round, Crochet Granny Squares

Built in 2005, Winter Garden branch sits at the westernmost part of Orange County. This was the last branch opened before the Great Recession of 2008. Interestingly, this is the only branch in the county built on donated land. Two acres were donated by the family of former citrus grove owner, Sylvester C. Battaglia. S.C. Battaglia’s philosophy, as stated by his son, was to “give back to the community.” The branch’s formal name S.C. Battaglia Memorial Branch, honors his contribution.
Winter Garden Branch has all the charm of a small town library plus all of the resources available through Orange County Library System. Noted for friendly and helpful staff, the branch is now serving a third generation of patrons.
