Simple chicken ornaments are a quick project to practice knitting the knit stitch. Learn how to apply new knitting skills while stitching a cute chicken ornament.

  • Class Duration: 1 hours 45 minutes
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: [Insert Class Title or None]
  • Required Skills: cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, bind off
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: [$10 dollars per part of part of class] (includes class and materials fees)

Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project:

  • Yarn(s):
    • scrap amount of worsted weight yarn for the body
    • scrap amount of worsted weight yarn for the accents
  • Needles(s): knitting needles 2 sizes smaller than the recommended needle size for your yarn.

Note: Knitting skills are necessary to be successful in this class. New to knitting? Check out Let's Knit Level 1.

Level Description
Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
Confident Beginner Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.
Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.

About the branch

Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
