Looking to add some color to your needles? Mosaic knitting is a great colorwork technique for creating geometric patterns. We'll make a tote bag while learning a fun way to use two colors.
This is a 3-part series running Mondays, November 10, 17 & 24 from 10:15am to 12:15pm.
If you want more than one color in your project, that’s Colorwork. It’s important to note that not all colorwork techniques are suitable for every project. We'll explore colorwork knitting and follow the Swirls & Stripes Mosaic Bag by Red Heart to learn Mosaic Knitting using only two colors with a slip stitch technique and only one color per row. This tote bag is the perfect first Mosaic project.
**Required Materials: students must bring the following materials to complete the project:

| Confident Beginner | Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns. |
| Intermediate | Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge. |
| Advanced | Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects. |

Built in 2005, Winter Garden branch sits at the westernmost part of Orange County. This was the last branch opened before the Great Recession of 2008. Interestingly, this is the only branch in the county built on donated land. Two acres were donated by the family of former citrus grove owner, Sylvester C. Battaglia. S.C. Battaglia’s philosophy, as stated by his son, was to “give back to the community.” The branch’s formal name S.C. Battaglia Memorial Branch, honors his contribution.
Winter Garden Branch has all the charm of a small town library plus all of the resources available through Orange County Library System. Noted for friendly and helpful staff, the branch is now serving a third generation of patrons.
