Knit gifts year round. Learn how to apply skills learned in levels 1 and 2 while knitting a seed stitch wash cloth to gift or keep.

This class is a series, held on  Tuesday September 2nd and 30th.  

  • Class Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes per part, 2 parts total.
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult, 11-12 with accompanying adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Knitting Level 1 and Level 2
  • Required Skills:Knit, Purl, Cast On, Bind Off
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: [$10 dollars per part of part of class] (includes class and materials fees)

Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project:

  • Pattern: Purl Soho's Knit and Purl Wash Cloth Pattern Please Note: Students must bring a printed copy of the pattern or be able to access it on a mobile device.
  • Yarn(s): Feel free to substitute the yarn for a worsted weight yarn (note that the result will be a bigger washcloth)
    • 40 yards of DK (Size 3) weight cotton yarn for the main fabric
    • 15 yards of DK (size 3) weight cotton yarn for the contrast color
  • Needles(s):
    • US 6 (4mm), straight knitting needles or 16- or 24-inch circular needles or the suggested needle size for your yarn
      Optional: if using straight needles, two US 6 (or the suggested size for your yarn) double pointed needles will be needed for the I-cord
  • Stitch markers, scissors, ruler

Level Description
Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
Confident Beginner Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.
Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.

About the branch

Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
