Fiber Arts Studio - Second Floor

No need to wait out a rainstorm, this crochet project will brighten your room with rainbow color any time of year! Students are required to bring materials.

Double crochets and colorful yarn can combine to make any number of beautiful creations. In this class series, students will learn to crochet a rainbow-shaped wall hanging, complete with a fun fringe finish. A little ray of sunshine and a happy cloud or two will also be made to bring this adorable project to life. 

This class is a series, held on Saturdays, June 7 - July 5 at 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Class Duration:2 hours, 4 Parts
  • Age Requirements: Adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Crochet Level 2 and Crochet Level 2
  • Required Skills: Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: [$10 dollars per part of part of class] (includes class and materials fees)

Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project: 

  • Medium (#4) weight cotton yarn. 1 ball each of:
    • Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple
  • Small amount of white and black yarn.
  • A crochet hook that corresponds to selected yarn weight. 4mm recommended for #4 yarn.

Level Description
Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
Confident Beginner Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.
Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.

Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in Orlando Public Library include Children’s, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children’s Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity is located on the second floor. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
