Hand Sewing Sashiko Patterns

Technology ClassroomLearn sashiko hand sewing techniques that form geometric patterns from simple running stitches. Enjoy some light refreshments, stitch and relax while creating beautiful geometric designs.
- Class Duration: 2 hours
- Age Requirements: 13-Adult
- Recommended Prerequisite: Hand Sewing Basics
- Required Skills: Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
- Materials Fee: None
- Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)
Optional Materials: Materials are provided for this class. Students may bring the following materials to complete the project:
- Fabric: Quilting cotton or linen-cotton blend, 1-5" fabric square or fat quarter, preferably in a light solid color
- Thread: Up to 2 colors of sashiko thread in a contrasting color from the fabric. Please note: The following may be used to substitute sashiko thread -- Pearl cotton thread size 8 or embroidery floss (separated into 4 strands)
- Needle: Embroidery, crewel, or sashiko needle

Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
